Renewing Your Mind with the Word of God podcast is a verse by verse, chapter by chapter study of the Word of God. The podcast’s name is from Romans 12:2 which says “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” How do we renew our minds? by studying the Word of God, which is found in the Bible.
In this episode, we continue our verse-by-verse study of Acts 8; specifically, verses 18-25. We examine the shocking moment when Simon the sorcerer tries to buy the power of the Holy Spirit. Though he believed and was baptized, Simon’s request reveals a heart still driven by greed and self-interest.
Peter’s strong rebuke exposes a powerful spiritual truth: the gifts of God—and salvation through Jesus—cannot be purchased, manipulated, or used for personal gain. This passage challenges us to examine the difference between intellectual belief and genuine repentance, and reminds us that Jesus freely forgives all who truly turn to Him.
