Renewing Your Mind with the Word of God podcast is a verse by verse, chapter by chapter study of the Word of God. The podcast’s name is from Romans 12:2 which says “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” How do we renew our minds? by studying the Word of God, which is found in the Bible.
In this episode, we continue our verse-by-verse study of Acts 8; specifically, verses 9–17, where the gospel reaches Samaria. We meet Simon the sorcerer, whose counterfeit power is confronted by the true power of Jesus Christ through Philip’s preaching. As the Samaritans believe and are baptized, we explore the difference between outward belief and genuine saving faith, and why God uniquely delayed the coming of the Holy Spirit to confirm their full acceptance into the church. This passage reveals how God unites unlikely people and advances His unstoppable gospel.
